moral dilemna

Married for 14 years. Early in marriage, I put wife through nursing school. In the following years, she was a spendaholic and we were always in debt. In the last year, she maxed out two of my credit cards to support her deadbeat brother who had gotten a DUI. He mooched from us off and on for 8 years.

Now we are separated, and she left me with outstanding credit card bills I cannot pay alone. Her health is deteriorating from kidney failure.

She does not want to stay married and seldom calls anymore.

She makes more money than me and is responsible for nearly all my credit card debt, I had a 800 credit score before we were married.

Should I seek alimony and make her pay for her past bills or have mercy on her although my credit score she ruined makes it difficult for me to move on with my Life?

depending on laws...

I'm in Florida and law here is any marital debt is split 50 50 unfortunately for you and I both there's absolutely nothing you can do about your credit score... My exwife walked out on me and saying she wanted no more responsibilities (of which she was more than happy to pile on throughout our marriage with no thought of consequences) therefore she quit paying the mortgage, moved back in with her parents who've got plenty of money and will buy her whatever she needs. I'm very freshly divorced, and extremely bitter towards her, but I will NEVER finance anything again with another person be it a spouse or anyone else. I'd suggest you ponder that idea as well. Cuz I know my credit is now ruined thanks wholly to her. My credit score AND hers before this @&85 was hovering in the 790s or so. Good luck in your endeavor hopefully yours may have someone telling her to give your marriage another shot instead of telling her there's no point in trying to save it. Another note too. This burned me badly at first because I tried like hell to get her to change her mind and give us a second chance... Empty your bank accounts and put them in an account that only u can access. Don't blow the money but if you don't put it in your control she'll take it and you'll never see it again and she'll blow it all. Again good luck.
